After visiting the MJ Café atSofitel Macau, I am now dreaming of the day when I can put up an MJ Café or mini-museum of my own, where I will display my extensive Michael Jackson collection. Even if you are no MJ fanatic, the MJ Café is worth checking out when you’re in Macau. Aside from the two floors I mentioned in yesterday’s column, there is also a souvenir shop across the first floor and another gift shop in the basement. It is a shopping mecca for MJ fans. There is a replica of the MJ statue which was part of MJ’s “History” album tour. I wanted to take the statue home with me!
I overspent at the souvenir shop but it was money well-spent. The Chinese staff was amazed and told me, “You are really crazy about MJ!” That is an understatement.
Since MJ’s monster hit “Thriller” has always been the official “Halloween anthem,” allow me to share with you some MJ trivia as we celebrate “trick or treat” month:
The original working title for the album was “Starlight” before songwriter Rod Temperton came up with “Thriller.”
MJ slept with the lights on because it reminded him of being on stage.
MJ loved M&M’s but wouldn’t eat the brown ones because they were not part of the rainbow.
“Do You Remember the Time?” was composed on the back of a clock at Neverland, discovered after MJ’s death.
