Yeng Constantino on married life: This is my dream

Singer-songwriter Yeng Constantino is in a state of overwhelming bliss at the moment, enjoying her married life with husband vocalist Yan Asuncion.

“Sobrang happy ako… I think kapag narating mo ‘yong ganitong joy maiisip mo na parang may ganito palang level ng happiness na parang hindi ko pa na conquer,” she told INQUIRER.net in an interview during the recent Cadbury Dairy Milk #ChooseYourJoy concert.

She said she is living her dream at the moment.

“We have two cats; I have him. Nanonood kami ng (television) series… nasa couch kami… sabi ko sa kanya ito na ang pangarap ko, ‘yong makasama yung taong mahal ko,” she said.

When asked about their plan to have a baby, Yeng said she and Yan would want to embark on their traveling adventure first.

“Nag-extend kami actually dapat one year and four months na lang pero sabi ko let’s extend it for another year kasi this year hindi kami naka-travel. I have a lot of work,” she said.

Yeng shared they will blog their tours which would start this Christmas.

“The next two years we’ll travel so para kapag dumating ‘yung baby, at least marami na kaming collection of pictures. Gusto naming maraming memories,” she added.

Songwriting as her passion

Yeng, meanwhile, gave an update about the upcoming musical play that will feature her songs.

“We are supposed to do it October, but we delayed it,” Yeng said.

The musical will be staged next year as it will mark Yeng’s 10th anniversary in show business. It will feature songs from all of her albums and those she wrote for other artists.

“I’ve been writing songs for other artists now. Pinangarap ko ‘yon. Ngayon nangyayari na,” she said.

For Yeng, there is no greater feeling than hearing her original compositions being sang by other people.

“’Nung kinanta nina Ms. Lea Salonga, Sarah (Geronimo) and Bamboo ‘yung kanta ko sa “The Voice,” sobrang naiyak talaga ako at feeling ko grand finals na,” she said.

“Mas gusto ko (songwriting). I’m thinking of having a baby in the future. What if hindi ako makakanta? I just know din na makakapagsulat naman ako ng kanta for other artists. Magagagwa ko pa rin ang passion ko even (if) hindi ako ‘yung nasa stage,” she said.

Yeng’s new album will be released next year.
