Historical biopic “Heneral Luna” continued to make a killing in the box office as it earned P200 million after its fourth week in theaters.
In a message to its supporters posted on its Facebook page, executive producer Fernando Ortigas and screenwriter-producer Eduardo A. Rocha thanked everyone who helped the film mark a new milestone.
“We have now officially crossed the Php 200 million mark for HENERAL LUNA! We can’t thank you all enough for making it possible for the film to reach this new milestone,” they said.
Ortigas and Rocha revealed that while the break-even point of the movie is P240 million, they cannot thank everyone enough for their support.
“Thank you for taking ownership of this film,” they added.
Heneral Luna, now the highest-grossing Filipino historical film, is the country’s official entry to the 2016 Oscars for the Best Foreign Language Film category. The film’s producers said that they will need at least $2 million to run a decent campaign for the Oscars. AJH
