Celebrity couple Angel Locsin and Luis Manzano seems to have reached a common stand in pushing for a stop on the killings of “lumad” or indigenous people in Mindanao.

A photo posted by Angel Locsin’s sister, Angela Colmenares-Sabino, on her Facebook account on Monday showed Locsin and Manzano holding up shirts calling for justice for the slain “lumad” leaders Dionel Campos and Bello Sinzo and Alternative Learning Center for Agricultural and Livelihood Development (Alcadev) executive director Emerico Samarte who were reportedly killed by paramilitary forces in Surigao del Sur last Sept. 1.
The shirts also have the hashtags “#stoplumadkillings” and “#HelpRebuildLumadSchools.”
Colmenares-Sabino captioned the photo of the couple with: “Aww, a couple who stands together, stays together.”
Locsin has been vocal on the campaign to stop lumad killings as she was able to spent two days of “integration” with the indigenous people community in Diatagon in Lianga town, Surigao del Sur in 2009.
Due to the harassment and killings in the “lumad” community reportedly committed by the paramilitary group Magahat-Bagani, more than 3,000 people have fled their homes and are now staying at a sports complex in Tandag City.
Aside from Locsin, singer Aiza Seguerra and actress-director Bibeth Orteza have also joined the call to put an end on lumad killings. AJH/RAM
