The most acclaimed Filipino religious musical, “Magnificat,” will be performed again this year due to many requests, so auditions for lead and supporting roles in the new production (all ages) will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 23.
Singing and acting auditions will be conducted at the Mabuhay Restop theater cafe at Rizal Park (near the Quirino Grandstand), which will also be the venue for the production’s initial shows.
“Magnificat,” composed by Ryan Cayabyab and written and directed by Nestor Torre, has been performed all over the country, and has won plaudits for its inspiring and heartfelt dramatization of the life of the Blessed Virgin Mary, as seen within the context of her son Jesus Christ’s mission to heal and save mankind.
Its challenging roles have been performed by some of the country’s best singer-actors, including Pinky Marquez, Dulce, Bodiie Pascua, Julien Mendoza, Rito Asilo, Andy Bais, Tex Ordoñez and Jingle Buena, so great performances are also expected of the musical’s new cast of players.
The acclaimed production’s initial run at Mabuhay Restop will be followed by a performance tour of major cities and schools and parishes throughout the country, in all sorts of venues.
