Sensing that their careers were headed nowhere after being in the show business for a few years, hot love team James Reid and Nadine Lustre almost quit right before their big break came.
In an “Aquino & Abunda Tonight” interview aired Friday night, Reid and Lustre revealed that they almost resigned to to the idea that they cannot make it big in the entertainment industry.
But the saying “patience is a virtue” proved true to them as they are now considered as one of the hottest love teams of Philippine show business, after starring in a couple of blockbuster movies and appearing in various TV shows.
“My dad is retired and I really had to find work,” Reid told host Boy Abunda as the reason why he chose to stay in showbiz.
For her part, Lustre has talent manager and Viva Entertainment big boss Vic del Rosario to thank for convincing her to stay on.
“Boss Vic always told me to be patient and that he was going to look for the right project for me… and then ‘Panget’ came,” said Lustre.
She was referring to “Diary Ng Panget,” the surprise blockbuster movie of 2014 which launched their tandem into superstardom. They are now famously known as “JaDine” in showbiz circles.
The two have since signed an exclusive contract with TV giant ABS-CBN and are now starring in their first primetime series “On The Wings Of Love” which will start airing on August 10.
Directed by Antonette Jadaone and Jojo Saguin, this romantic comedy, which is partly shot in the US, also stars Cherry Pie Picache and Albie Casiño among others.
