American songwriter and pianist Jim Brickman’s scheduled concert at Solaire Resort and Casino on Aug. 8 will no longer push through.
In an email to TicketWorld, show organizer Grand Leisure Corp. said “Jim Brickman: The Platinum 2015” in Manila was cancelled due to circumstances beyond their control.
“Mr. Brickman—under the advice of his legal counsel Atty. Numeriano ‘Jun’ Rodriguez—has opted not to fly out to Manila to perform,” the email read. “A legal matter in the Philippines pursuant to a previous case has made it difficult for all parties to proceed with the event.”
“We shall update you with any developments, because we value our relationship with you. We want to be able to straighten out any details and fulfill any commitments we have made to your company where this particular show is concerned. We sincerely hope that you understand that this was beyond our control,” the statement added.
In a statement posted on Brickman’s Facebook account, the singer said “[i]t is with great sadness that I am unable to appear in Manila on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015, due to issues that are beyond my control.”
“Words can’t express my sadness and disappointment … I am so thankful for your continued love and understanding. Please know that I am so very grateful for your love and friendship, and it is not by choice that I am prevented to come,” he said.
He also promised “to find a way to make things (up)” to his fans in Manila “very soon.”
TicketWorld, meanwhile, said all ticket purchases for the cancelled concert were entitled to a full refund.
Brickman was behind the songs “Valentine,” “The Gift,” “Love of My Life,” and “Destiny,” among other hits. YG
