Vacations are spent for rest and relaxation, but there’s no way de-stressing can’t also be a time for acquiring new knowledge and experiences.

This is the central message of new travel show Jojo’s Diary of Asia, which will premiere on August 3 at lifestyle channel TLC.

It will follow the adventures of TV host Jojo Struys in Japan, Nepal, and Hong Kong as she immerses herself in the culture of the said Asian countries and discovers many ways to cook traditional Asian dishes.

“Unearth the multitude of ways you can de-stress – bathing elephants in the Himalayas, learning breathing techniques from a Zen Buddhist monk and wielding a samurai sword in Tokyo,” TLC said in a press release.

In Japan, Jojo will soak herself in the healing waters of the “onsen” hot springs, learn to make her own sushi, “udon” noodles, and tofu, try the art of Samurai with a renowned swordsman, and get her face painted porcelain white as an apprentice Geisha or “Maiko.”

Jojo will take travel into a higher level in Nepal as she is set to fly over Mount Everest, bathe an elephant in the river, cook traditional Nepali dishes, and attend a sound healing workshop with music healers. She will also visit Lumbini, the famous birthplace of Buddha and a sacred place for Buddhists around the world, and Pokhara, one of the most popular global trekking destinations.

Last but not the least, Jojo will also try her first Dragon dancing, create latte art, and visit popular ladies market in the bustling metropolis of Hong Kong.
