Gab Valenciano nominated for MTV video music prize

Dancer Gab Valenciano has been nominated for Best Choreography in the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs).

Valenciano was nominated along with superstar Beyoncé and Chris Grant for Beyoncé’s “7-11” music video.

He took to Twitter to express his gratitude for the nomination.

“5 nominations, including Best Choreography. Wow. God is good. @Beyonce @MTV #VMA,” he said.

Aside from getting a Best Choreography nomination, Beyoncé’s “7/11” was also nominated for Video of the Year, Best Female Video, Best Pop Video, Best Choreography, and Best Editing.

Beyoncé’s camp tapped Valenciano for the concept of the 7/11 music video. The result, where Beyoncé is seen dancing randomly in a hotel room and on a balcony, was inspired by Valenciano’s viral “super selfie” videos.

Other nominees for the Best Choreography award are: Ryan Heffington for Chet Faker’s “Gold;” OK Go, Airman, and Mori Harano for OK Go’s “I Won’t Let You Down;” Keone and Mari Madrid for Flying Lotus featuring Kendrick Lama’s “Never Catch Me” and Nappy Tabs for Ed Sheeran’s “Don’t.”

The 2015 MTV VMAs will air on August 30 and will be hosted by Miley Cyrus. AJH
