Singer Chansung, a member of male group 2PM, responded fiercely on Friday to those spreading malicious rumors about him online, and threatened to take legal action.
“I don’t know if I should just let the rumors slide because those who create them are really pathetic or if I should really make them wake up to reality,” Chansung said on Twitter.
“It’s okay for them to insult me if they hate me. But I get really angry when people spread complete lies about me,” he said. “It seems they really believe those lies — I can help them find out the truth through a legal lawsuit.”
The specific content of the alleged “malicious rumors” have not been verified.
Chansung said he would wait a little longer before collecting evidence to sue.
“The more kindness I show, the more they take me for (an idiot),” he said.
Chansung concluded his tweet on a slightly more positive note, saying that he enjoyed shooting a guest appearance for the Sunday reality show “Running Man.”
Last month, 2PM’s agency JYP Entertainment sued those who were spreading malicious lies about another of its members, Jun.K.
At the time, JYP said, “For many years, there have been online users who routinely attack 2PM, denigrating their appearance, making disparaging sexual remarks and defaming members of their family. We decided in May … to file for legal action for defamation and abuse.”
Another 2PM member, Taecyeon, reiterated JYP’s official stance on Twitter on Friday. “JYP does not tolerate those who spread lies or malicious comments about its contracted artists.”
