Fields of hope

Fazenda da Esperança has an intriguing tagline: “Bukid ng Pag-asa” or Field of Hope. This program gives hope to drug addicts looking for a way out of the dark hole they’ve fallen into. It originated in Brazil and now has outlets in Masbate and Naga, set up as farms to give its residents an opportunity to reconnect with nature and the Supreme Provider.

These “fields of hope” have no locks or high walls, so their residents, who voluntarily take the one-year program and are free to leave as they wish, don’t feel imprisoned. Participants grow their own food.

Many of the “residents” finish the year-long program because they’re tired of hiding, stealing, physical distress, mental anxiety, frustration and broken relationships. They see it as a way out of their woes! Those who leave the program prematurely feel homesick and restless, because they crave for the lifestyle they’re used to.

At these homes, special moments are spent to read the Supreme Friend’s teachings and meditate about His love for all of us. The program focuses on spiritual strengthening by seeking His welcoming protection and healing embrace. It helps us drive away the negative influences of the material world and learn about life’s most valuable treasures!
