Now, it can be told.
High-profile project was beset with all sorts of problems.
Insiders tried to make it appear as if everything was fine and dandy, but the cracks soon turned into gaping chasms.
According to a mole, Industry Newcomers were a bit too brazen for comfort.
In the end, Experienced Colleagues were turned off by INs’ heavy-handed, arrogant behavior.
INs seem allergic to constructive criticism and surrounded themselves with “yes men,” alienating well-meaning ECs.
Anyone who was honest and straightforward was considered an enemy. No wonder their once-promising venture hit the skids.
A less-than-amicable separation was inevitable.
Desperate act
There was a time Major Star looked down on independently produced projects. MS didn’t even bother to promote a friend’s indie venture years ago.
But after a string of career missteps, MS is singing an unfamiliar tune these days.
MS now claims to be a staunch supporter of indies.
Is MS a poseur or a sincere advocate of meaningful movies?
Or is MS merely rebelling after suffering a series of flops?
Is the reinvention an act of desperation?
Lift rift
It sounds like a rehash of an old urban legend concerning an infamous altercation, but this new tattle tale involves a different set of characters.
Accompanied by bodyguards, Sultry Celeb was waiting for the lift in a luxurious building.
Alas, someone was already in the elevator. The guards pointedly told Poor Stranger to get off so that SC could have the lift all to herself.
As expected, PS raised hell.
SC got upset as well, but her wrath was directed toward her eager-beaver chaperones.
SC reprimanded her employees for their rude behavior, insisting she had no problem sharing the ride.
Baddy two-shoes
Popular Celebrity carefully cultivates a goody two-shoes image.
But PC cannot pretend all the time.
A clueless reporter made the mistake of asking PC about a controversial issue that chafed a bit too painfully.
Usually gregarious PC suddenly turned reticent.
Perhaps PC knew that haste makes waste and careless words can unmask the bully within.
As such, agitated PC made sure to cool down first before addressing the tricky topic.
Tale of two hosts
From the Inquirer tabloid Bandera:
Colleagues can’t help comparing leading studio’s two Top Hosts.
While TH1 is a breeze to work with, TH2 is a tad tempestuous.
TH1 makes the long hours on the set light and fun, while TH2 often leaves coworkers stressed-out and exhausted.
TH2 has the habit of passing the blame for booboos to underlings.
TH2 often messes up the spiels on the idiot board. Without fail, TH2 would invent all sorts of excuses: Either the words were too small or unintelligible.
Perhaps TH2 needs to have an eye checkup, pronto.
Chasing Amy
They say that mothers know best and TV host Amy Perez wholeheartedly agrees.
Being a mother to three boys, the TV and radio host juggles home life and career, without sacrificing health and wellness.
The “Umagang Kay Ganda” host says it’s all about balance and knowing one’s priorities. “Time management is important. I’m happy that most of my assignments happen in the morning,” she says.
With so many tasks on her to-do list, Amy knows the importance of taking care of one’s health.
“I am 45 years old, and I am not getting any younger. I need to be always healthy for myself and for my family,” she points out.
The TV personality credits her mom, who is health-conscious as well.
“It was my mom who introduced C-Lium to me. She reminds us every day to increase our fiber intake,” says Amy.
According to the National Fiber Council, the soluble fiber in psyllium absorbs water, turns into gel, and attaches to food, sugars, cholesterol and fats in the stomach.
It then helps expel these from our digestive systems. A high-fiber diet helps lower the risk of developing life-threatening illnesses such as heart disease, certain forms of cancer, diabetes and stroke.
A lot has changed since she became a mom, Amy admits.
“Everything I do now revolves around my boys’ welfare,” she says. “No more partying and drinking like when I was younger. I have to make sure that I’m always energetic and healthy for them,” she says.
Yassi’s cravings
Growing up, Yassmin Isabel Pressman was one of those kids who frequently joined pageants and fashion shows.
The talented Filipino-British beauty recalls watching VHS tapes of Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears as a kid.
She would then belt out their songs and imitate their signature dance moves. “I’ve always wanted to be a performer,” she owns up.
Yassi, who was discovered in a mall when she was six years old, is now one of Viva Artist Agency’s prized talents.
A self-titled album under Viva Records is currently in the works. Her first lead role in a movie will soon hit the theaters. A love team is also being cooked up.
Of course, she is an MTV Pinoy VJ.
“Yassi was born to be a star. She is a nice and happy person, too. We are happy to have her as part of the Greenwich barkada,” relates Cookie Cabrera, PR head of Greenwich.
Being Greenwich’s newest It Girl, she loves the concept of the Greenwich Ultimate Bandkada Search.
“I know what it’s like to go through the challenges of starting your music career,” Yassi shares. “But hard work, proper training and surrounding yourself with friends who share the same interests make the journey more fun and exciting,” she remarks.
“Enjoying music becomes even better when there’s great food you can share with them along the way. That’s the ultimate bonding experience!”
