In love with Guy
Nora Aunor turned a year fiercer on May 21. Since she and my mom (Inday Badiday) were soul sisters, Ate Guy (La Aunor’s nickname) practically saw me grow up. Whenever we bumped into each other at parties, she always told me, “When your mommy was still alive, we used to go out a lot.
Now it’s cool that you and I get to hang out.” Their friendship is one for the books.
Guy’s birth anniversary could well be a national holiday for her legions of fans. It’s not only her birth anniversary that they celebrate, but also her numerous accomplishments. No amount of intrigues can dethrone the superstar.
Pinoys will always be in love with this Guy! La Aunor shared her post-birthday thoughts with us:
What are the most important lessons you’ve learned through the years?

“Tatlong Taong Walang Diyos,” “Himala,” “Bona” and “Ina Ka ng Anak Mo.”
What was your gift to yourself?
No need for gifts. That I’m healthy and can still make movies are more than enough.
What was the best gift you received this year?
More than material things, it was the party hosted by loyal Noranians.
What’s your most unforgettable experience?
When I lost my voice. That was a big blow.
Any dream roles?
I recently accepted a dream project. I cannot reveal details yet. But it’s an unusual role. Something unexpected.
If your life story were made into a movie, what would the title be?
I’ll keep it simple and call it “Nora.”
B-day bonding
I enjoyed bonding with another b-day gal, Rufa Mae Quinto (May 28), in Cebu. Pchi and I had a blast at the first anniversary bash of LIV Super Club.
We fondly call each other “Alta Sister.” Pchi and I learned so much from each other, while island-hopping.
I have never seen her happier. I salute Pchi for being a breadwinner. For her, family comes first and love can take a backseat.
Farewell summer
Celebs were spotted in fancy beach resorts and tourist spots this summer.
Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera enjoyed their holiday in Korea, while Richard Gutierrez and Sarah Lahbati traveled to Bangkok. Rocco Nacino and Lovi Poe were seen in El Nido, while Karylle and Yael Yuzon went to Baguio.
But as the weather becomes more erratic and rainy days loom ahead, celebs can enjoy the rest of summer in their homes via a staycation. They can hold marathon screenings with friends in their home theater. Fortunately, Meralco’s power rates have gone down significantly last month (P0.70 per kilowatt per hour).
This somehow lessens the electricity cost of using your home theater. One last hurrah for summer!
