Policeman’s wife to represent PH at Mrs. Universe
A 40-year-old model and television host will take advantage of her husband’s influence as ranking police official to promote world peace as she represents the country at the Mrs. Universe 2015 pageant in Minsk, Belarus, in August.
As Jennifer Cruz, known as Ina Alegre in the entertainment industry, joins the international pageant for married women, she also intends to promote the advocacies of the 150,000-strong Philippine National Police.
She is the wife of Senior Supt. Gilbert Cruz, deputy district director for operations of Southern Police District, who has earned several awards for his achievements as a law enforcer.
The police official was feted as one of the Ten Outstanding Young Men for 1998. He was also one of the Country’s Outstanding Policemen in Service in 2007.
On Tuesday, the female Cruz made a courtesy call to PNP officer in charge Deputy Director Gen. Leonardo Espina at the national headquarters in Camp Crame.

Asked what Espina had told her during their short meeting, the mother of four said: “Itaas ang pagiging nanay at asawa ng pulis.”
She will compete with married women from different countries and vie for the Mrs. Universe 2015 title on Aug. 28. This year’s theme is “domestic violence and reflection over children.”
