Actress Susan Roces has spoken on the possible presidential bid of her daughter Sen. Grace Poe in 2016.

“Whatever the future holds for her, my main concern as a mother is her happiness and her safety, and her health,” Roces said on Tuesday during the press conference for the television remake of her late husband Fernando Poe Jr.’s film “Ang Probinsyano.”

Roces said she was constantly praying for her daughter as she admitted that she was not in a position to comment on her political plans.

“As her mom, I constantly pray for guidance for her,” the actress said.

Roces said it was overwhelming that Poe was being considered to lead the country, adding that being a president was a “tough job.”

Bilang ina, nakakataba ng puso na ganu’n ang reaksiyon nila. Ngunit sa isang banda, mahirap na trabaho ‘yan (As a mother, I am overjoyed by their reactions. But then again, being a president is hard work),” she said.

Hindi mo basta-basta pinaplano ‘yan (You don’t just plan those things).”

Poe has not announced her intention to run for higher office in 2016 despite doing well in election surveys. With Nestor Corrales, Inquirer.net
