Dingdong Dantes thumbs down 2016 Senate run, to focus on being a dad

Actor Dingdong Dantes has finally put to rest rumors that he is seeking to run for senator in the 2016 elections under the administration’s ticket, saying that he will focus on being a father to his forthcoming child with actress Marian Rivera.

During his visit to the House of Representatives on Monday, Dantes said that he is focused on his career and his duties as the commissioner-at-large of the National Youth Commission (NYC).

“I will categorically declare that I’m not running (for senator),” Dantes said.

Asked by the press if he will reconsider his decision, Dantes said: “There are more important issues we’re facing right now. Aside from my job at the NYC, I’m a soon to be father so that’s something I’d like to focus on.”
Earlier reports said that the 34-year-old actor is being eyed as a senatorial candidate under the administration’s Liberal Party in the 2016 polls.
