HERE ARE some Spanish proverbs, our food for thought this week:
Take no notice of the stupid things people say.
Little strokes fell great oaks.
We’ve all been fools once in our lives.
Birth is much, but breeding is more.
No bees, no honey; no work, no money.
We’re all equal in the eyes of the Lord.
Do what is right, come what may.
Anger is a short madness.
If you talk too much, you’re likely to give yourself away.
A rule isn’t unfair if it applies to everyone.
All mouth and no trousers; all talk and no action.
Out of debt, out of danger.
Evildoers always think the worst of others.
Where there’s gossip, there’s lying.
If you lie down with dogs, you’ll get up with fleas.
Better to ask the way than to go astray.
Anger and hate hinder good counsel!
