Shalala is Daiana’s show-biz ‘ninong’

/ 06:23 PM October 09, 2011

Daiana Menezes is hurting because of Shalala.

“Just because I resigned from the midnight radio program I cohost with him, he has been saying that I’m unprofessional and all,” the Brazilian beauty laments. “I love radio but the late time slot was killing me. I’m now under observation because I’m underweight and overworked. It’s sad kasi I consider Shalala as one of my ninongs in the biz.”

Daiana’s boyfriend, TV director GB Sampedro, comes to her rescue. “Ayoko na sana magsalita kasi we work in one network, but sobra na. I heard Shalala even cursed me and Daiana on the air but it was a taped episode so it was edited out. He’s been saying na para akong utusan lang ni Daiana. Siya na nga nag-request magdala ako ng food sa radio show nila, tapos kami pa ni Daiana ang napasama.

“He avoids me during show-biz affairs. If he’s not guilty then he should feel free to approach me. Sana huwag niyang sirain ang lahat ng good breaks na dumarating sa kanya … By now he should know ethics in hosting.”

Ooh, Shalala’s shenanigans! Time for some serious damage control.

Defense game

Shalala’s manager, Noel Ferrer, comes to his defense. “Nabuyo lang siya kaya na-provoke magmura sa show,” he explains. “Nagatungan lang si Direk GB kaya lumaki ang issue. It’s really between Shalala and Daiana. Shalala was not suspended from ‘Juicy’ last Friday. He was absent because he had to fix his passport for ‘Talentadong Pinoy’s’ show in Dubai. I really hope they patch things up soon. It’s just a miscommunication problem.”

Is it a case of being lost in translation for the Brazilian charmer and the Pinoy comedian/TV host? Show biz is such a small world to stay mad at each other.

Reviving ‘Pipol’

Ces Drilon is all revved up for the return of her show, “Pipol on ANC,” on Mondays starting October 10 at 9:30 p.m. on the ABS-CBN News Channel.

“Our first episode is about new graft-buster Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales,” says Ces. “I hope to interview Nora Aunor, Danding Cojuangco, President Noynoy and AFP comptroller Carlos Garcia.”

Her fave interviews? “Col. Noel Buan after he was abducted by the NPA and Sarsi Emanuelle when she became a takilyera sa perya.”

C’est le zeste de Ces!

Time out

An ABS-CBN insider told me the network is not too keen about giving KC Concepcion a project anytime soon because her previous shows didn’t meet expectations as shown by mediocre ratings.

I find that rather strange because KC has wit, spunk and charisma. She has countless endorsements and is definitely out of her famous parents’ shadow. Perhaps she just needs the right vehicle and the proper timing. I read KC tweeted that she’s having the time of her life in her second home, Paris. It’s only time out but not time’s up for Papa Piolo’s girl.

Series remake

The remake of GMA 7’s memorable prime time drama, “Ikaw Lang ang Mamahalin,” starring Kapuso tweens premieres Monday after “Pahiram ng Isang Ina” on GMA Afternoon Prime.

Barbie Forteza plays Mylene/Catherine, the rightful heiress of the Fuentebellas. Joyce Ching assumes the character of Clarissa, Mylene’s cousin who poses as Mylene. Joshua Dionisio takes on the role of Sir Charles, Catherine’s compassionate neighbor, while Kristoffer Martin stars as Jepoy, Clarissa’s best friend.

The series is out to prove that dramaseryes are grander the second time around.
