Former teen actor Angelo Ilagan is back in ‘Alimuom ng Kahapon’
Actor Angelo Ilagan on Tuesday said he is very much ready now to make a comeback in show business.
“Hopefully maging tuloy tuloy na ‘yong pagbabalik ko sa industriya ng show business. Gusto kong mabura ‘yong stigma sa akin ng tao (Hopefully my comeback to show business will continue. I want to erase the stigma on me),” Angelo told INQUIRER.net, during the premiere night of his latest film, the independently produced “Alimuom ng Kahapon (Shadows of Yesterday)” at Robinsons Galleria on Tuesday.
It was almost ten years when Angelo, the nephew of the late actor Jay Ilagan, faded out of the limelight.
He entered show business through ABS-CBN’s Star Magic Batch 13 and was even touted then as one of the most promising teen actors.
He made a name for himself after acting on the television series “Mga Angel Na Walang Langit” and few “Maalala Mo Kaya” episodes. He was also notable in films namely “Sarong Banggi,” “Ouija” and “Unfriend.”

“Alimuom ng Kahapon” is the first full-length work of theater actor now film director Rosswill Hilario.
Angelo plays the role of Emman, a student activist.
The film, which is also a socio-political commentary, tackles Emman’s complicated love story with a photojournalist Nathan portrayed by actor DM Sevilla.
Angelo admitted he found it easy to take on the role of an activist because he was a fighter in real life. But doing the love scenes with Sevilla, he said, was quite challenging.
“Ang dali niyang gawin kasi ako matapang na tao naman ako . Lahat ng pagsubok sa buhay kayang kong daanan o nadaanan ko na. So ginamit ko lang na pang-hugot ‘yon para magawa ko ‘yong role as Emman. Nahirapan lang ako sa mga bed scenes kasi first [time] ko siyang ginawa. Ang hirap i-explain ng feelings kapag nandoon ka sa [sitwasyon] na ‘yon (It was easy to do that because I am a strong person anyway. All the challenges in life I have dealt with. So I used all those emotions for me to give justice to the role of Emman. I only had difficulties during the bed scenes because it’s my first time to do it. It’s hard to explain what I felt in that particular situation).”
Angelo said he is not afraid to be typecast in gay roles.
“Walang problema kasi as an actor ako ready ako kahit anong role. Hindi naman ako namimili pa para sa gagawin kong role. Kasi unang-una ‘di naman ako action star, hindi naman ako drama star. Basta ginagawa ko lang kung anong dapat gawin sa character ko (I have no problem as an actor because I am ready for any role. I am not choosy. Because firstly, I am not an action star, I am not a drama star. I am just doing what my character requires me to),” he said.
“Sinasabi ng film kung paano ba masaktan, kung paano ba magmahal, kung paano mag-move on at ayusin ang isang relasyon with the same gender (The film speaks how one could get hurt, how to love, how to move on and fix one’s relationship with the same gender),” he added.
“Alimuom ng Kahapon” also stars Alizon Andres, Sebastian Castro, Manuel Chua, Jong Cuenco, Godofredo Dela Cruz, Jr., Marq Dollentes, Ford Fernandez, Angelina Kanapi, Rex Lantano, Abigail Lazaro, Siege Ledesma and Fray Paolo Casurao.
The film is still showing at SM Megamall until Sunday.
