Have you ever seen Philippine folklore’s most feared ghosts and ghouls getting wacky in a music video?
Entertainer and YouTube sensation Mikey Bustos posted on Wednesday a music video of his rap song about Filipinos’ very own set of mythical creatures.
The video, entitled “Filipino Mythical Creatures Rap,” had instantly gone viral on social media, with more than 1.3 million views on Facebook as of writing.
Set in some faraway woods, the story begins when a witch-looking old woman with a British accent gives Mikey a third-eye vision—his ticket into the world of mythology.
The hilarity ensues when Mikey eventually transforms into the creatures of the folklore, complete with funny if not scary costumes and prosthetics.
He dresses up as a tikbalang (a half-man, half-horse creature), describing himself as a “half-macho dancer and half-stallion,” and a white lady, who he says is using whitening products from celebrity dermatologist Vicky Belo.
Expressing desire in joining the “Voice of the Philippines,” Mikey’s sirena (mermaid) role, he says, has a “sex appeal with hydration like Gatorade.”
The other creatures Mikey rapped about were the duwende (dwarf), kapre (smoking tree giant) and manananggal (monster whose upper torso grows wings and leaves the rest of its body to search for food).
