The John Lloyd Cruz-Gretchen Barretto starrer “The Trial,” from Star Cinema, airs in both standard and high-definition on SKYcable and Destiny via SKY Pay-Per-View until April 30.
The 2014 family drama, directed by Chito S. Roño, also features Jessy Mendiola, Richard Gomez and Sylvia Sanchez.
Cruz plays Ronald, a mentally challenged student going through a traumatizing police investigation resulting from rape charges filed by his teacher (Mendiola). His therapist (Barretto) and lawyer (Gomez) face an uphill battle.
In the last Philippine Movie Press Club Star Awards, “The Trial” won the Movie Supporting Actress of the Year award for both Barretto and Sanchez. Cruz tied for Movie Actor of the Year with Piolo Pascual (in “Starting Over Again”).
