(Part Two)
Aside from Holy Wednesday, it also happens to be April Fool’s Day. Is this just coincidence? Perhaps it’s a subtle Lenten reminder that we must reflect on our follies so we may become improved versions of ourselves by Easter Sunday.
Introspective mode “on.” Even celebrities take a breather so that they may pay homage to our Immortal Superstar, Jesus Christ.
Boots Anson-Roa: I will reflect on the unconditional and immutable love of God. God loves us whether or not we deserve His love. He loves us whoever we are. He loved the pure and the sacred, the innocent and the virtuous, but He also loved the thief who was crucified beside Him, the prostitute who was almost stoned to death, the Samaritan woman at the well, the tax collector who became His follower, His favored disciple who denied Him three times, and His beloved apostle and keeper of the purse who betrayed Him for 30 pieces of silver. God loves us not because we are worthy of His love, but because He is a loving God. His love for us has nothing to do with us. It has everything to do with Him. God’s love for us never changes, no matter how often we offend Him. He forgives us now, just as He did on the cross—bruised, battered and dying because of our sins. He pleaded, thus: “Father, forgive them for they know not what they are doing.”
China Cojuangco-Gonzalez: My reflection will center on my gratitude towards Jesus Christ who died on the cross to save us. I thank Him for my happy, healthy family; my in-laws who continue to accept me into their family; most especially for my husband who takes good care of me and our little Bachuchi. I also like to thank Jesus for the gift of motherhood. I will reflect on how to become a better mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend and a better Catholic.
Richard Poon: Has my love for God gone warmer or colder? Am I more intimately involved with God this year than last year? What areas of my life have I not surrendered to Him?
Christine Bersola-Babao: I will reflect on why there is so much injustice and evil in this world.
Christian Bautista: I will reflect on how, through God’s wisdom, I can become a better person in the entertainment industry, to be a good influence on the nation’s youth.
Precious Lara Quigaman: This world is not my home; I’m here temporarily. I hope to be able to set my sights on things not seen, on things above and not on earthly pleasures and treasures. To live my life for God’s glory alone, for it is all about Jesus, the only way, truth and life.
Miriam Quiambao-Roberto: Psalm 90:12: “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” I will be reflecting on life itself and how I can live it to the fullest, given that life is short.
Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan: I will simply reflect on God’s amazing grace.
John Arcilla: May we truly find within us the real meaning of poverty in spirit. So that we can start transforming ourselves into good citizens of this nation and planet, rather than remain a community of complainers who do nothing.
