Since it’s Holy Monday, let’s leave the show biz circus for a while and find some peace and quiet. In observance of Lent, I asked some celebs about their Holy Week reflections or prayers.
The recent demise of my beloved friend, Liezl Martinez, will make me reflect on my own mortality and how spiritually prepared I am for the Great Beyond.
As we go out of town or abroad, may we remember that Semana Santa is about holy days, not just holidays.
JESSICA Soho will pray for stronger faith.
Vilma Santos: I will watch old movies about the life and sacrifices of Jesus. They serve as reminders, to help us reflect on our deeds and actions. I will pray for guidance for my family, and for myself as a public servant.
Ryan Cayabyab: What is the perfect sacrifice? What is love without the requisite sacrifice? Why sacrifice?
Jessica Soho: I will pray for stronger faith, better health and more time for things that really matter.
Ogie Alcasid: My favorite Bible verse, John 3:16, is what I reflect on always. God loves us so much that his son’s death saved us from our sins. I am grateful, in awe and so unworthy of his gift.
NOEL CABANGON ARNOLD ALMACEN
Noel Cabangon: I will pray for our people to be guided by the spirit of understanding rather than divisiveness. There’s just too much hatred. Compassion and humility must reign in our hearts.
Rita Avila: The lesson I wrote in my book, “The Invisible Wings,” is we will do good things for the love of God every day. I shall pray that each of us can really do something good everyday, no matter how small, until it becomes a habit, then a way of life.
YAYO Aguila will reflect on the gift of family.
Yayo Aguila: I will reflect on how God has loved me by blessing me with the gift of family, and how I should treasure them. I will not forget that God has loved me unconditionally.
Baron Geisler: I will reflect on past mistakes and what I can do to be a better person. I will thank God for all the blessings he has given me. I am eternally grateful to the Lord and my family for being beside me all the time. I will reflect on having an attitude of gratitude.
Pinoy Media Congress
ABS-CBN president and CEO Charo Santos-Concio reminded over a thousand communication students about the importance of having good values in her keynote address at the Pinoy Media Congress (PMC) Year 9, held recently at St. Paul’s University Manila.
RITA Avila will pray for everyone.
After discussing how technology has changed the way media content is created and consumed, she advised the next generation of communicators to be responsible, and to use media not to destroy but to inspire.
Santos-Concio was one of the speakers in the event organized by ABS-CBN and the Philippine Association of Communication Educators Foundation.
After learning about current and future trends in the industry, the students had a dialogue with the Kapamilya network bosses led by head of Free TV Cory Vidanes.
The delegates from all over the country took to social media to express their satisfaction with the event. Now, they are all speaking the same lingo!
