In 2011, the gifted and beautiful British actress, Kate Winslet, saved an old woman from burning in a fire! At the height of Hurricane Irene in the Caribbean, a bolt of lightning hit a house and set it on fire, trapping the old woman. Not thinking of her own safety, Winslet carried the woman to safety.
Next, Dustin Hoffman saw a jogger collapse and called paramedics right away. They performed an emergency procedure that saved the man’s life.
In 1996, Tom Cruise witnessed a man being hit by a car, which drove off instantly. He stayed with the victim until the cops and paramedics arrived—and paid for the injured man’s stay in the emergency room.
In 2009, a fan of Demi Moore threatened to kill herself. Instead of ignoring the Twitter message, Moore contacted the police, who arrived at the fan’s house in time to prevent the suicide attempt. And, to follow up, Demi made sure that the law enforcers arranged for her psychological evaluation.
Another celebrity who takes cries for help on social media seriously is Rihanna. She retweets young people in need—and uses her celebrity power to save the lives of children in need of bone marrow transplants.
Vin Diesel saw the car in front of him burst into flames. Acting quickly, he pulled two children from the car’s back seat, and calmly instructed the driver to crawl out to safety. A good thing, too—because a short time later, the whole car exploded!
For his part, Brad Pitt saved an extra from being trampled on during a shoot that involved hundreds of people in full flight. When he saw the female extra fall, the star picked her up and carried her to safety.
Heroic or prescient in another way was the “intervention” performed by Simon Cowell during an audition for “The X-Factor”: He heard a female singer’s raspy voice and observed that she was “choking or something.” Warned by Cowell’s concerned words, the auditionee saw a doctor, and learned that she had a lung disease!
Finally, back to Harrison Ford: It turns out that going on heroic mode in real life isn’t new to the actor: In 2000, he saved the lives of two hikers lost in a forest! And, the very next year, he helped locate and save a Boy Scout lost in Yellowstone National Park!
