Sunshine Cruz airs side vs Cesar Montano’s sis

SUNSHINE Cruz will do anything to protect her daughters.

SUNSHINE Cruz will do anything to protect her daughters.

No matter what happens, estranged couples like Cesar Montano and Sunshine Cruz cannot “divorce” themselves from their children. Buboy and Shine will forever be linked because of their three daughters even if they are no longer “connected” with each other.

When they were together, Shine used to confide in me their marital woes. I remember telling her once, “It doesn’t mean that Buboy loves his siblings more than you. It’s just that he has loved them longer.”

Even if Buboy is my BFF, I would like to believe that my friendship with Shine is not coterminous with their marriage. We don’t get to talk anymore; still, I treasure the moments I shared with Shine during their happy days.

For the longest time, I really wished they could still patch things up. But it looks like they have reached the end. Hopefully, in time, Buboy and Shine can meet halfway.

After I published the side of Buboy’s sister, Marimer “Ate Ched” Hamilton in this column last week, Shine took to Facebook to air her sentiments:

The FB post

“Guys, the rape case is still pending. I’m not doing this for money because I have been providing well for my kids since I got separated two yea rs ago. Kaya ko naman (I can handle it). Cesar, on the other hand, only gives [money] monthly for rent and the kids’ tuition. I have been really quiet about this because I believe this should be settled in court… They are the ones who give interviews left and right and [then] they blame me. I am a mom and whatever I am doing now is… for my children. Ched/Marimer is mad at me. She once harassed me, [saying] that Buboy was not the father of our youngest. I won [that] libel case. One more thing, she is the sister of my ex, so… her actions [don’t surprise me]. Maybe I should really consider … airing my side of the story because they’ve been making noise for weeks. I am a mom who will protect and fight for my three girls.”

Not a couple

In my previous column, I posed a question regarding the closeness of Derek Ramsay and Ynna Asistio. I did not confirm anything. The playful conjecture was just to pique readers’ curiosity. Since the main story in that column was my Q&A with Antoinette Jadaone, the director/writer of “That Thing Called Tadhana,” I was surprised that my short item about Derek and Ynna became the headline.

It did not sit well with Derek or with Ynna’s mom, Nadia Montenegro. To set the record straight, Derek and Ynna are not a couple.

End of story.

Mama Ara

Ara Mina is busy preparing for the baptism of her firstborn, Amanda Gabrielle, on March 17 at San Roque Church in Mandaluyong. The “Lush and Luxe Princess”-themed reception is set at the Corinthian Gardens Clubhouse.

Among the 15 pairs of godparents are Sharon Cuneta, Jessa Zaragoza-Avanzado, Jan Marini, Jaycee Parker and Ara’s sister, Cristine Reyes.

The rest are close friends and relatives of Ara and her partner, Patrick Meneses.

Baby Mandy will be wearing a fab Frederick Peralta creation.

After the christening, is marriage next on their agenda? “I still have to propose to Pat,” Ara jested. “I’m not expecting a fabulous proposal from him. What’s important is that he proposes. I’m already thinking of a dream destination for our honeymoon.”

Ara is loving la vida mama!

Kapamilya awards

ABS-CBN Film Archives head Leo Katigbak and actor Jake Cuenca received their first Ani ng Dangal (AND) awards recently from the National Commission for Culture and Arts after bringing honor to the country by winning in international competitions.

The Kapamilya network’s film restoration project, headed by Katigbak, was recognized for winning an Award of Excellence last year in the prestigious International Association of Business Communicators Gold Quill Awards held in Toronto, Canada.

Jake bagged an AND award for winning best actor in the 2014 International Film Festival Manhattan, held in New York, for his work in the indie film “Mulat.”

Kudos to Leo and Jake!
