MANILA, Philippines―The 23-year-old crooner from Butuan City who channels his experiences from belonging to a broken family to his performances was declared “The Voice of the Philippines” champion on Sunday.
Jason Dy, who was mentored by Pop Star Princess Sarah Geronimo, emerged as the winner after battling with Rence Rapanot of Team Bamboo, Alisah Bonaobra of Team Apl., and Leah Patricio of Team Lea.
On Sunday’s show, he sang “Angels Brought Me Here” and “If I Ain’t Got You” duet with his coach Sarah.
During the first round of the show’s two-day finale, Dy sang two songs: “Wrecking Ball” with international singer Charice and for his individual song choice, he sang “With You.”
Dy sang “Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin” in his final showdown against Bonaobra.
Dy won 52.94 percent of the public’s votes.
On his profile on the show’s official website, he is described as a demo artist and singer.
