Chiz to Heart’s parents: I love and accept you

MANILA, Philipines—“Mahal at tinatanggap ko sila.” This was the response of Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero to the letter of Heart Evangelista’s father during their wedding at Balesin Island on Sunday, PEP.ph reported.
During their wedding, a letter from Reynaldo Ongpauco was read by a cousin of the actress, asking Escudero to love Heart “unconditionally.”
“I really wanted to walk you down the altar. I don’t know any father who doesn’t want to see his daughter during the most important day of her life. But a lot of things has happened that hinder us from going,” Ongpauco said in Filipino.
The report said the senator went up onstage during the reception and delivered his response.
“Sabi ng daddy ni Heart, mahalagang tanggapin ko siya. Oo, gagawin ko siya, ginagawa ko yun. Hindi ko lang siya [Mr. Ongpauco] puwedeng tawaging ‘Daddy’ o ‘Tatay’ hangga’t hindi niya sinasabi,” Escudero was quoted as saying in the report.
Evangelista’s parents, who were a no-show during the wedding, opposed the relationship of Heart with the senator when the couple admitted their romance in 2013.
Her father, however, promised that he would “come knocking” at her daughter’s door once he sees the couple to be “truly happy.” NC
