Lovestruck stars get urge to merge

ESCUDERO AND EVANGELISTA. Relative simplicity over extravagant display.

Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera set the wedding bells ringing last December—and other lovestruck stars now appear to have caught the “urge to merge” bug, with Heart Evangelista and Sen. Chiz Escudero following suit on Feb. 15.

And, just last Sunday, Feb. 8, Toni Gonzaga and Paul Soriano chimed in and announced their own engagement on “The Buzz.”

Even more tellingly, the announcement, after seven years of building their relationship, prompted queries about the nuptial prospects of other stellar romances, like Luis-Angel, Angelica-John Lloyd, KC-Paulo and Gerald-Maja—!

Pressured to react, John Lloyd realistically pointed out that he had just renewed his TV-film contract, so could he please be given time to focus on his work prospects, instead?

—In other words, cool it, folks. The urge to merge may have some stars in thrall, but other lovestruck luminaries are less ardently and giddily disposed—so, in their more pragmatic case, the urge has yet to—surge!

It takes the cake

Speaking of the recent Dingdong-Marian nuptials, the lovely couple was almost upstaged by—their wedding cake! It turned out to be the cake to end all cakes, a positively monumental and triumphant culinary and “architectural” achievement which awed everyone in sight, like “Dongyan’s” own mini Statue of Liberty or Eiffel Tower!

In addition to being impressively monumental, it turned out that their special cake could do much more than just feed the multitude—it served as a small “cyclorama” on which many festive images and symbols and even fireworks were projected, to viewers’ drop-jawed amazement!

What will Heart-Chiz do to top that fantabulous “baked performance?”

—Answering that provocative question in advance, Heart intimates that she and her beau have wisely decided to opt for relative simplicity over extravagant display. There will probably be a wedding cake, but it won’t have—a life of its own!
