LOS ANGELES, United States – One person was shot dead outside a party in Los Angeles attended by two rappers in contention at Sunday’s Grammy Awards, police and the venue said.
At least two suspects opened fire outside the nightclub late Saturday in the heart of Hollywood, police said.
A man, whose identity was not immediately released, was shot and died of his injuries at a hospital. There were no immediate arrests, police spokeswoman Nuria Vanegas said.
The venue, Supperclub, had earlier on Twitter said that rappers Wiz Khalifa, Schoolboy Q and Snoop Dogg were in attendance.
Schoolboy Q and Wiz Khalifa are both up for Grammys for Best Rap Album in a field that also includes top-selling rapper Eminem as well as Australian newcomer Iggy Azalea.
Schoolboy Q’s major-label debut “Oxymoron” opened at number one on the mainstream Billboard album charts. Snoop Dogg was one of the top stars of the Los Angeles-area rap scene in the 1990s but has since branched out into electronic music and acting.
