Valentine’s Day is either a red-letter day or a red-alert day, depending on the state of your heart. Being a romantic fool who’s been through hell and back in the name of love, I sometimes wonder if Cupid is done playing tricks on me. As I always tell my friends, “Quota na si Cupid sa akin!”
In the spirit of V Day, I asked some celebs: “If Cupid were real, what would you ask him?” Happy Hearts’ (and no more Hurts) Day! I can never hate love. There is no question that love is not the answer to.
Cesar Montano
“Cupid, why do you always hit the hearts of guys who are taken? Could you please practice more with your bow and arrow? Or are there just other Cupids out there whose aims are not accurate?”
Lovi Poe
“How do you make love last?”
Derek Ramsay
“Why is love so painful at times?”
Vina Morales
“Why is my true love taking so long?”
Nyoy Volante
“Has love always been complicated?”
Rachel Alejandro
“I’d ask where I could possibly find true love for my fabulous, awesome yet single girlfriends?”
Baron Geisler
“I’d probably ask Cupid to sit with me for awhile—it must be exhausting, flying around all day. I would ask why I am the one who falls more deeply each time. Why can’t the feelings be equal, so the relationship will last? And when will he find my perfect match?”
Yayo Aguila
“Please give me someone special who will love me truly, in a way that I deserve, and make him one for keeps, please?”
Rita Avila
“Could you please release your arrows to the perfect pair?”
Dingdong Avanzado
“Why do you come only once a year to celebrate love—and why February?”
Erik Santos
“Why do you always hit our hearts’ bullseye?”
Jed Madela
“Why do we fall for people who cannot be ours? Could you shoot them with your magic arrows, so they will fall for us, too?”
Divine Lee
“Why do people fall in love? Is it heavenly to fall in love?”
Alden Richards
“Why is love so complicated?”
Kris Bernal
“Have I met my soul mate?”
Home revolution
Party lines and tatlong beinte-singko are things of the past. PLDT, the premier telecommunications company, is now PLDT Home, a mother brand that offers products/services for the home—Fibr, DSL, Ultera, TVolution, the revitalized Telpad and the latest, Fam Cam.
Celebrity moms Danica Sotto-Pingris and LJ Moreno-Alapag trust the Fam Cam to help them watch over their families even when they are away. The home monitoring camera transmits live footage to mobile devices and has a built-in advanced-version mic that provides two-way communication, plus camera panning, tilting and zooming in.
The “bright boy” who revitalized the telecoms giant is EVP Ariel Fermin, head of PLDT Home. “In the telecoms game, it’s tempting to trumpet the latest technology,” he says. “But there are times it makes more sense to focus on the basics—family values, togetherness, true connections. When you focus on the ever-changing, you become obsolete. When you focus on the never-changing, your communication can live forever.”
Charo cited
ABS-CBN president and CEO Charo Santos-Concio was recently conferred the Fleur-de-lis Award, the highest honor given to outstanding graduates of St. Paul University Manila. She was cited for outstanding achievements in television and loyalty to her alma mater.
While studying at St. Paul, Charo worked part-time as a voice talent and host of a noontime radio show. “I realized that I could serve my country through media,” she said. “At ABS-CBN, I’m doing what I love to do…telling stories that inspire, inform and empower people. [That’s why] this award means so much to me.”
What a woman of substance and grace!
