Spotify predicts Grammy results

The 57th Annual Grammy Awards, takes place (Monday, Manila time).

To celebrate one of the music world’s biggest events, commercial music streaming service Spotify has released data that effectively predicts the winners in four of the top categories: album of the year, record of the year, song of the year and best new artist.

Spotify compiled global data on the top streamed songs, albums and artists in each of the four areas. In addition, it analyzed the listening habits of its 60 million users worldwide to look at the most viral songs, albums, and artists in those categories to predict even the “dark horses.”

Sia’s ‘Chandelier’

Sia’s “Chandelier” was the most streamed song globally in the record and song of the year categories. It also ranked most viral in the record of the year race. Hozier’s “Take Me to Church” is the most viral in the song of the year category.

For album of the year, Ed Sheeran’s “X” was the most- streamed album, with Pharrell Williams’ “G I R L” being the most viral. In the best new artist category, Ed Sheeran was the most streamed artist; Bastille, the most viral.
