Returning tandems’ new series excite televiewers
Some new TV series are of particular promise and interest to viewers looking for a special treat this season. Topping some viewers’ list is the long-anticipated reunion of popular TV-film love teams, led by Jolina Magdangal and Marvin Agustin in “Flor de Liza.” Adding to the interest in the project is its teaser/trailer, which intimates that Marvin will play a family man—with two families!
More: He has one daughter in each household, and they become best friends—not knowing about their “secret” complicating connection! We figure that the two little girls make up the “Flor de Liza” in the series’ title.
Some viewers might regard the title as being too similar to the “Flor de Luna” show that “made” Janice de Belen and was a really long-running hit some decades ago. But we suppose that the new show will do its best to make its own memorable mark on local TV—especially with Marvin and Jolina’s joint comeback bid’s success at stellar stake.
In other words, they’ve waited too long to allow anything to go wrong—and hopes are high that, after this comeback series, their popular team will be back—to stay!
As for another returning love team, Dawn Zulueta and Richard Gomez, their new vehicle is “Will Never Say Goodbye,” billed as a family drama that also stars Jessy Mendiola and JC de Vera. Given the veteran leads’ “durable” good looks and abiding “shared” charisma, this new series bids fair to also involve and excite viewers.
Bonus attraction
Article continues after this advertisementAn additional attraction is the fact that Jessy and JC (!) are associated with rather “sexy” portrayals, which should make the show more “interesting” to younger and “hotter” viewers.

He should bite the bullet and use this new series to show how much he’s “deepened” as an actor, and come up with his most sustainedly intense portrayal ever. Now that he’s pushing 50, it’s high time for him to stop banking on his photogenic “packaging” and firmly establish his credentials as a mature actor in the real meaning of the word.
Finally, the all-important youth sector is “stellarly” represented by a new “Pangako sa ’Yo” drama series being whipped up for teen “royals” Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo. The spruced-up project also stars Jodi Sta. Maria and Angelica Panganiban, so its “star value” cannot be gainsaid.
In our view, the updated “Pangako” is a key project for the fave teen tandem because it could be their “transition” vehicle from teen to young-adult acting.
To that effect, the presence of strong costars like Angelica and Jodi is all to the good because it should “force” the young stars to come up with their strongest joint portrayal yet.
For their part, Jodi and Angelica are coming from recent TV and film successes, so they’re not going to settle for “supporting” or “framing” the show’s younger leads’ performances—not by a long shot!
