As part of their birth anniversary celebrations, GMA 7 stars Alden Richards, Mikael Daez and Kylie Padilla recently engaged in various charity activities.
Alden, who turned 23 last Jan. 2, took part in Habitat for Humanity’s build-a-house project in the organization’s adopted community in Payatas, Quezon City. He was assigned to clearing operations.
“I wanted to do more, but they told me that helping wasn’t measured by how tough your tasks were—it’s about making a difference in your own way,” said Alden.
The young actor is flying with actress Nora Aunor to the Netherlands tomorrow to attend the Rotterdam International Film Festival, where their short film, “Kinabukasan” by Adolfo
Alix Jr., will be showcased.
Meanwhile, Save the Children Fund ambassadors Kylie (who turns 21 on Jan. 25) and Mikael (who turned 27 last Jan. 6), read stories to about 70 kids, aged 7 to 9, at Pag-asa Elementary School in Caloocan City. They also participated in games and assisted in a feeding program.
“It’s nice seeing them smile because of what you do for them,” Mikael said. “The things we did were simple for us, but they were a big deal for these children.”
“This is the way I want to extend the blessings I receive because these children are so pure,” Kylie said. “I know that helping them experience a happy childhood can inspire them.”
