Although Jamie Rivera has shifted her focus to writing and performing inspirational songs, she still makes it a point to tap into her pop and musical theater background every so often.

She recently told the Inquirer: “When I do shows, I always perform my pop hits, such as ‘Hey, It’s Me.’ I also perform songs from ‘Miss Saigon,’ and tunes that celebrate motherhood. And then I end with inspirational songs. I incorporate all aspects of my career.”

She still writes pop songs. She added: “As a matter of fact, I have a composition in Janella

Salvador’s coming album. I also wrote a song entry for the Himig Handog songwriting contest. I didn’t make [the grade], but I heard it’s going to be used somewhere else.”

She performed her original song, “We are All God’s Children” in two recent Papal visit events: the meeting with the families at Mall of Asia Arena, and the youth gathering at the University of Santo Tomas. Allan Policarpio
