Kris Aquino: ‘I was ready for Ai Ai to snub me’

MANILA, Philippines—TV host Kris Aquino on Tuesday said she was “ready to be snubbed” by comedienne Ai Ai Delas Alas when she offered her reconciliation during the wedding of actors Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera last Dec. 30.

“I was really ready for her to snub me,” Aquino told cohost Boy Abunda during their nightly talk show “Aquino and Abunda Tonight.” “Sabi ko, ‘Happy New Year’, and then she said, ‘Happy New Year,’. Sabi ko, ‘may regalo ako’ (I have a gift).”

Aquino then handed Delas Alas a necklace with pendants that bore Mama Mary’s image and a note which read, “Sana handa na ang puso mong kaibiganin akong ulit (I hope your heart is ready for us to be friends again).”

The two have since had at least one exchange of text messages.

“There’s no need na ungkatin lahat. Kasi kung uungkatin lahat, nasabi niya, nasabi ko, whatever, hahaba. (There’s no need to bring up everything. If we do that—bring up what she had said, what I had said, whatever—we will just prolong the issue.) And we’ll never be able to be friends again,” Aquino said.

The Feng Shui actress also said that ex-flame Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista also served as her inspiration to patch things up with Delas Alas.

“The night before the wedding, dumaan si Mayor Herbert sa bahay namin. Sinabi niya personal niyang ginusto na tapusin ang taon na OK kami, na friends kami. Kung siya, nagawa niya ito at natuwa ako sa gesture niya, siguro si Ai Ai matutuwa sa gagawin ko,” Aquino recounted.

(The night before the wedding, Mayor Herbert dropped by our house. He said he personally wanted to end the year that we were OK, that we were friends. If he was able to do that and his gesture made me happy, then I thought Ai Ai might also be pleased with what I would do.)

“I felt so good that he gave me the importance to see me so I wanted to give her the importance,” she added. IDL
