As I embark on a new year of “Dollywooding,” allow me to thank all the celebrities who trusted me with their stories in 2014. And big thanks to my loyal readers for making this column a part of their Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday reading habits.
Even now that the New Year’s Eve celebrations are over, may we still see fireworks in everything we do and with everyone we love.
Never cease to seize the moment. Carpe annum!
Vilma Santos
“I never meddle in my sons’ private lives. But I always assure them that they can run to me [for support] anytime.”
Marian Rivera
“Nothing scares me about marriage because I know I will savor every moment with my husband.”
Dingdong Dantes
“Marian and I are grateful to those who gave us the ‘royal’ tag. But the truth is, we are just individuals who are in love and who want the best for our wedding day and our married life. I don’t think there is a single word that can capture our present state of euphoria.”
Ryan Cayabyab
“I suspect I had ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) as a kid. Not that I craved attention, but there were details that I sometimes didn’t recognize. Of course, I have improved. But it sometimes resurfaces. Or maybe I am becoming deaf?”
Piolo Pascual
“The craziest thing I’ve done is staying in show biz. I would not be here if I were not crazy. I don’t want to be pressured by the ‘Papa P’ tag, though.”
Ogie Alcasid
“The hardest part about being me is being a father and a husband. I am too critical of myself.”
Martin Nievera
“In show biz, it’s almost impossible to have the happy endings we sing about. So we take whatever happiness and success we can get and call them victories.”
Derek Ramsay
“The craziest thing I’ve done for love is to forgive. I’ve had some crazy stuff done to me.”
Toni Gonzaga
“The best way to deal with intrigues is to ignore them. You cannot be affected by lies if you hold on to the truth.”
Aiko Melendez
“Kids have nothing to do with the failure of their parents’ marriage. It’s best to remain friends with your ex; it will have a positive effect on your kids.”
Tom Rodriguez
“Marriage is something I’ve always seen for myself. I never imagined myself to be an old bachelor. I used to think that 26 was the ideal marrying age. It turns out that it’s not something you can plan.”
Andi Eigenmann
“When my daughter grows up, I will talk to her as I would to a woman like myself— not as though she’s a fairy-tale princess because I want her to be realistic and strong.”
Eugene Domingo
“I would rather be alone than settle for just anyone.”
Alice Dixson
“I love tall men. I like them smart too, but not too serious. I go for well-traveled men. Give me someone I can work out with and play chess with.”
