MANILA, Philippines – A resolution has been filed before the House of Representatives seeking honor for the filmmaker of “Magkakabaung” (The Coffin Maker) which bagged the Best Asian Film Award during the 3rd Hanoi International Film Festival last November.

Quezon City Representative Winston Castelo filed House Resolution 1744 seeking recognition for Jason Paul Laxamana whose film bested hundreds of other entries from all over the world.

“Laxamana deserves all the praise, honors and recognition for bringing pride, glory and honor to the country,” Castelo said in a statement.

The film follows the attempts of a casket factory worker to deal with the guilt of accidentally causing the death of his eight-year-old daughter.

Allen Dizon, the lead of the film, also won the Best Actor Award.
