Our tree was designed by Merrick and Patrick Malinis from UP Diliman, who also designed Ina Raymundo’s house and several mall shops. I wanted a blue tree; it looks cool and soothing, and matches my home interiors. What I lack and plan to buy soon is a belen , to remind my children (Lia, 10, and Zappa, 5) that Christmas is the birthday of Jesus. Most people think of it as just a holiday. A belen is also a great reminder that Christ came to the world not as a prince, but as a poor boy in swaddling clothes, born in a manger. This Bible story teaches us humility.
