MANILA, Philippines – Singer Aiza Seguerra and theater actress Liza Diño, who were recently married in the United States, are already planning to have children through in vitro fertilization (IVF).
“We have plans of having a kid,” Diño said during an interview with ABS-CBN’s “Aquino & Abunda Tonight” on Tuesday.
“During our trip to the US. We went to an IVF clinic and had our check-up. It was explained, the whole process of it,” she added.
Seguerra explained that IVF, a process that allows an egg cell to be fertilized by a sperm outside the body, is a long process.
“I’ll just call you na lang for donor ganu’n (I’ll call you when we start looking for donors),” Seguerra jokingly told host Boy Abunda.
“I shall be waiting for that call,” the host replied, laughing.
Seguerra and Diño’s wedding had become a controversial issue in the country, especially since same sex marriage is still not allowed in the Philippines.
Diño said they respect the fact that it is still illegal in the Philippines but she hopes that people would understand and empathize with them.
“I just wish that one day makahanap din sila ng saya na nararamdaman namin, one day makahanap din sila ng pagmamahal na naibibigay namin sa isa’t isa. ‘Pag naramdaman nila ‘yun I don’t think they’ll say anything,” Seguerra added.
(I just wish one day they will find the joy we are now feeling, one day they will find the kind of love we are able to give each other. When they feel that I don’t think they’ll say anything against us.)
The couple plans to hold a symbolic ceremony in the country, more than a week after their wedding in San Francisco, California.
