“Asking me to stop working is like telling me to stop breathing,” said actress Sandy Andolong, who recently admitted she has a kidney ailment.

Sandy is a mainstay of the sitcom “Home Sweetie Home” on ABS-CBN. She said that she has had the condition for years, but that she was not worried “because I have a team of doctors who are managing it. I’m okay.”

Sandy denied reports that she has begun undergoing dialysis but revealed, “My kidneys no longer function normally. Right now, I would like to concentrate on my son Miguel. I’d like him to get well soon.”

Miguel has been diagnosed with testicular cancer. “He’s been coping with very aggressive chemo therapy for the past few months. He has good and bad days. We try to talk to him almost every day through Skype, to lift his spirit.” Miguel is US-based.

“I told him that my wish for Christmas is to hear from his doctor that he is cancer-free,” said Sandy, adding that she hoped to celebrate the holidays with Miguel. She and husband Christopher De Leon went to visit their son during the Halloween break.

“He is still trying to regain his strength, his balance, his stamina,” said Sandy, who thanked all the people praying for Miguel.
