Market for Pinoy musicals

“RAK OF AEGIS.” Commercial and critical success.

Sonia Vidal, housewife: “The continuing commercial and critical success of ‘Rak of Aegis’ is proof that there’s a market for original Pilipino musicals that the audience can relate to. How about a stage version of the screen musical, ‘I Do Bidoo Bidoo,’ which featured the songs of the Apo Hiking Society? I’m sure it’ll also be a hit!”

Letty Dolar, televiewer: “Watching a recent telecast of ‘The Voice Philippines’ made me sad, especially for some blind auditionees who didn’t make the cut. It was an awkward surprise to watch the audition of Faith Cuneta, especially when the judges realized that they had chosen to ignore a colleague in the recording industry! I take my hat off to Faith for trying her luck and taking the risk.”
