Holiday Cheer: Jon Santos
My husband West (Stewart) gave me Cookie, a Boston Terrier, last Christmas. She’s 16 months old now. She was named after Cookie Rojas, West’s favorite Philadelphia Phillies baseball player. West is a Philadelphian, that’s why.
Cookie is a jumper. She loves playing “catch the medyas (socks).” When she gets tired, she sleeps on my lap, snoring. She gives us unconditional love. I’ve never seen her with her tongue inside her mouth—whether asleep or awake.
We are still deciding if we will bring her with us to the United States this year. Our holidays are always spent with both families. We are in the Philippines until Christmas Day and then we fly to the US to be with West’s family. It will be an East-West Christmas, as usual.
Our old, mall-bought tree is supposed to be dark green. But when it comes out of the storeroom, it’s brown with alikabok (dust). We hose it down and it’s green again. This year, we decorated it in “Priscilla: Queen of the Desert” colors. Purple ornaments! — Bayani San Diego Jr.
