CORRALES. Waxes dream album.
It has been quite a while since Pilita Corrales recorded a solo album. She has been toying with the idea of coming up with another Visayan collection. Little did she know that Viva was cooking up something better—a dream album of duets with some of the country’s singing icons!
In “Duets,” the veteran songstress performs with Sharon Cuneta, Martin Nievera, Basil Valdez, Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, The Company, Chad Borja, Joey Albert, Vic Sotto and Sarah Geronimo. Pilita shares, “What Viva did was ask the artists what songs they wanted to sing with me.”
She also performs the Visayan classic, “Usahay,” with fellow Cebuano, Chad Borja. In “Pagdating ng Panahon,” sung with The Company, the diva added some Spanish lyrics to the tune. Vic Sotto sings “Ipagpatawad Mo” with her.
Completing the lineup are “Ikaw Lang ang Mamahalin” (with Martin Nievera), “Forever’s Not Enough” (Sarah Geronimo), “Kahit Maputi Na Ang Buhok Ko” (Sharon Cuneta), “Tell Me,” (Joey Albert) and “You Are My Song” (Regine Velasquez-Alcasid). Pilita sings her signature song, “A Million Thanks To You,” on her own.
Some of the songs were performed by Pilita and her guests in the benefit concert, “Duets, A Million Thanks,” last Nov. 13 at the Fiesta Pavilion of the Manila Hotel.
