“Disagreements at work are normal. [But] we’re good now,” said actor Matt Evans who admitted that he recently “flared up” on the set of the drama series “Pure Love.” The object was coactor Arron Villaflor.
Evans has since apologized to Villaflor. “The very next day, I hugged Arron and said sorry. I swallowed my pride to make that first move,” he told reporters during a media gathering for the ABS-CBN soap.
Evans recalled: “We just laughed at the incident afterward. Direk (Roni Velasco) and I agreed that it happened because everyone was already tense as it was, working under intense heat. It was 1 p.m. and no one has had lunch.”
The two first worked together in the 2006 fantaserye “Pedro Penduko,” where Evans played title role. “His (Villaflor’s) first trip abroad was to Hong Kong, with the ‘Penduko’ group,” Evans related. “We also went to Singapore and Dubai together with the Star Magic group. And we just finished a series of provincial tours for this show.”
Evans said he regarded everyone in “Pure Love” as family and felt sad that the show was ending.
Lead actress Alex Gonzaga felt the same way. “I’m sad that I’m about to let go of my character Diane,” she said. “At the same time, I’m happy because we’re concluding the show while its rating is high. I’m so thankful to the viewers.”
“Pure Love” is based on the Korean TV series “49 Days” (2011). Gonzaga portrays the lead character Diane, who figures in a car accident and lands in the hospital. The Scheduler (Evans) gives her a chance to live again but she has to collect, in 49 days, three teardrops shed out of pure love by three persons not related to her.
Gonzaga refused to share details of her supposed romantic involvement with costar Arjo Atayde, who has been nothing but forthright about his interest in Gonzaga since they started working in August.
“I’m just allowing my heart to first recover from a painful experience,” said Gonzaga. “Arjo is a very nice person, but I don’t think he’s really into me because he treats everybody the same way.”
“Pure Love,” which also features Joseph Marco, Anna Luna, Sunshine Cruz, John Arcilla, Ana Capri, Bart Guingona, Dante Ponce and Shey Bustamante, ends today.
