MANILA, Philippines—Singer Maria Luisa Ramsey-Gotidoc, famously known as Jaya, admitted that she lost her three-month-old unborn baby after undergoing a gallbladder removal.

In a Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP) report, Jaya said that the gallbladder removal procedure should not have been done but it was necessary.

“Hindi talaga dapat gagawin ng procedure. Pero hindi rin puwedeng hindi gawin ‘yung procedure. So, parang I made a deal with God na kung hindi magwu-work ‘yung baby, kunin na lang Niya at this early stage kesa naman mabuhay siya tapos maraming damage,” Jaya said.

(The procedure shouldn’t have been done. But the procedure was necessary. So, I made a deal with God that that if the baby would just suffer, He should just take the baby at this early than let him live suffering from various damages in the body.)

She said that they had discovered the death of her unborn baby last Nov. 6. She then had the fetus removed.

Jaya’s unborn baby would have been the singer’s third child.

The singer said she was hurt by the loss and would sometimes blame herself for the death of her baby.

“Masakit kasi parang ang unang bugso na papasok sa isip mo, kasalanan mo. Kasalanan ko, ‘di ba?” Jaya said.

(It’s painful because the first thing that comes to your mind is that it is your fault.)

She thanked her husband Gary Gotidoc, family and friends for their support throughout the ordeal.
