Daniel Matsunaga has only nice things to say about ex-girlfriend Heart Evangelista, now engaged to Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero.
In fact, the Brazilian-Japanese Matsunaga says he wouldn’t have qualms about attending Evangelista’s wedding—if he gets invited. “If she asks, and I have no work scheduled [on her wedding day], then I’ll go,” he told reporters at his recent launch as the newest celebrity endorser of San Marino Tuna Flakes.
Matsunaga, winner of the reality show “Pinoy Big Brother: All In,” said he is wishing Evangelista and Escudero all the best: “I hope everything turns out perfect for them. He’s kind and intelligent; I’m sure he’ll be a good husband and father.”
As for his own love life, Matsunaga said he has been single for about two and a half years now, but that he’s nothing but happy. “There’s a time for everything. In God’s time, I’ll be in a new relationship,” he said, adding that he was focused on his show biz career, which got quite a boost after his PBB win.
Life post-PBB
“Blessings started pouring in when I left ‘Bahay ni Kuya.’ I have two films coming up (“Past Tense” and “Shake, Rattle and Roll XV”) and I’m busy doing workshops,” Matsunaga said.
“My dreams are finally coming true—here in the Philippines. I’m overwhelmed and sobrang naiiyak because I never expected this in my life,” he said. “Had I stayed in Brazil, I might never achieve all these. I’m very happy here.”
Does he see himself settling down in the country? “Of course, I’m going to stay here for many years. My plan is to bring my whole family here; I’m saving up for that.” (apolicarpio@inquirer.com.ph)
