Lav Diaz wins in Brazil

Lav Diaz’s Locarno-winning epic, “Mula sa Kung Ano ang Noon,” won best film/audience award, at the 38th São Paulo (Brazil) International Film Festival. Fest official Ivan Melo told Diaz the good news via e-mail on Oct. 29. After three screenings, organizers added a fourth for the five-and-a-half-hour film, set on Nov. 11. Bayani San Diego Jr.
