Too many sponsors

Timmy Rocero, nurse: “I love watching beauty pageants on television—but, this has changed after the recent Miss World Philippines telecast. I understand the organizers’ need to acknowledge their sponsors, but do they have to do this in the guise of giving away numerous special awards?

“Because of this, viewers have to endure a long and boring presentation—not to mention those scene-stealing off-kilter crowns! Why not design one that easily fits on the heads of the lucky finalists to avoid those awkward, airtime-consuming moments?”

ABUNDA. Back on TV.

Other notes:

Helen Saavedra, housewife: “The lackluster box-office performance of Cinemalaya’s ‘Hari ng Tondo’ and ‘The Janitor,’ despite their being released by Star Cinema, is unfortunate. This proves that star power is still a big factor to rake it in at the tills.

Let’s hope ABS-CBN continues to support indies.”

Demet Siocon, businessman: “The Cebuano in me longs for the day when a Metro Manila-based radio station will have a program that features only Visayan music. I’m sure that’ll please my fellow Cebuano-song lovers!

Rex Ramas, employee: “I wonder what Manny Pacquiao, who fancies himself a master of everything, is going to do next? His dismal debut as a basketball player just might put an end to that. And, the fact that Mommy Dionisia was even considered as his basketball team’s muse was the biggest joke of all.”

Gilda Mejia, televiewer: “I’m glad that Boy Abunda is back on television. But, I wish he would put on more weight, so that he’ll look like his jolly, old self.”
