MANILA, Philippines – Hollywood star Renee Zellwegger became a hot topic in social media after she showed up with a new look at her red carpet appearance of the 21st Annual Elle Women in Hollywood Awards in California.
Her look has fueled earlier rumors that she had plastic surgery.
Zellwegger, who starred in movies “Jerry Maguire,” “Chicago” and “Bridget Jones’ Diary,” was reportedly upbeat as she posed for photographers at the event. She was dressed in a dress designed by Carolina Herrera.
“The Academy Award-nominated actress is virtually unrecognizable,” MoviePilot.com wrote.
“I’m glad folks think I look different! I’m living a different, happy, more fulfilling life, and I’m thrilled that perhaps it shows,” the 45-year-old actress said in an exclusive statement sent to People Magazine.
She described the discussion of the appearance as “silly,” and that she chose to answer it because “it seems the folks who come digging around for some nefarious truth which doesn’t exist won’t get off my porch until I answer the door.”
“My friends say that I look peaceful. I am healthy,” she said.
“For a long time I wasn’t doing such a good job with that. I took on a schedule that is not realistically sustainable and didn’t allow for taking care of myself. Rather than stopping to recalibrate, I kept running until I was depleted and made bad choices about how to conceal the exhaustion. I was aware of the chaos and finally chose different things,” she added.
Zellwegger’s last film was in 2010, a road movie titled “My Own Love Song,” which was directed and directed by French filmmaker Olivier Dahan and with music by Bob Dylan.
Her next film, “The Whole Truth” will come out in theaters in 2015, in which she starred in with Keanu Reeves.
