MANILA, Philippines–It looks like drums and beats will provide the soundtrack for the upcoming Academy Awards as Miles Teller gets the Oscar nod.

The 27-year old actor has only been on the public’s radar since his breakthrough performance four years ago in Rabbit Hole.

Followed by his reckless youth role in 21 and Over, Miles Teller also starred in a pair of hook-up comedies ‘That Awkward Moment’ and ‘Two Night Stand.’ Dubbed as the lovechild of a young John Cusack and Vince Vaugh, Miles Teller’s appeal has always been different from the freakishly handsome variety of Hollywood’s leading men.

But after searing the screen as a hopeless romantic in the film adaptation of ‘The Spectacular Now’, Teller’s affable charm has definitely found its way to our hearts.

This year, Teller landed three major roles that will definitely beef up his Hollywood credential. After revealing that he will be the new Mr. Fantastic in the reboot Marvel movie and the resident Dauntless villain in the teen box-office hit ‘Divergent’, the budding lead actor stars in the critically acclaimed drama Whiplash.

From his supporting characters and comedic roles, Miles Teller shifts to a complex and intense lead in Whiplash. Revelatory and toned in the troubles of the award winning movie Black Swan, movie critics mentioned that Teller’s gobsmacking performance bagged the most coveted Grand Jury and Audience Choice Award at the recent Sundance.

No stranger to festival buzz, the ‘Whiplash’ star is now being considered as a strong Oscar contender in the Best Actor race.

Fueled by scenes that are nothing short of electric, Whiplash is hailed as one of the best movies this era will ever see.
